Holistic healthcare and wellness – PHIL LOIZIDES – Founder of Lion Health & Fitness
In the first place, it is worth noting that Lion Health and Fitness was formed by Phil Loizides over 20 years ago. Not to mention that he has been training and coaching clients for over 30 years achieving outstanding results. Additionally, whilst living and working in Singapore a personal achievement for him was coaching to success a local ‘Dragon Boat Team’. In addition, he has vast experience in all aspects of training and rehabilitation. More specifically some core skill areas are:– functional Training, GAIT analysis, Aerobic Training, Weight Training, Stability Ball, Back and Shoulder Care and Core Stability etc. Consequently, these skills compliment others developed whilst training individual clients many of whom were from special populations.
However, typical Client issues are:
Ankle/knee and hip problems
Lower back problems
Neck and Shoulder problems
High Blood Pressure,
Not to mention that most if not all have responded well to holistic healthcare approaches and exercise programs designed specifically for them.
Equally important has been working with Pre and Post Natal women and similarly clients pre and post surgery are also a specialty e.g. knee and hip replacements.
However, Personal Training is not the only service offered by such an advanced personal trainer. The main approach to health and fitness is truly holistic therefore utilising numerous skills. As a matter of fact, these skills were developed and perfected whilst training with the CHEK Institute. In addition, CHEK Certified Master Practitioner, CHEK Golf Bio-mechanic, CHEK Tennis Bio-mechanic, and Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 3 status’ were achieved during this 8-year program. Furthermore, as a member of the CHEK Faculty Phil also teaches others to be holistic healthcare practitioners.
For that reason, Phil’s holistic approach is different from that provided by other personal trainers and gym based staff. Their focus is generally on the physical aspects of personal training. In contrast, Phils’ aim is to help clients achieve optimum health and wellbeing with a holistic healthcare approach. The principle is that although it is just as important to work on the physical aspects of health, it is equally as important to focus on internal and emotional health issues also.
CHEK Institute Specialties
A member of the C.H.E.K Institute and the Register of Exercise Professionals. Phil’s specific skills are in the bodies biomechanics, injury rehabilitation, fat loss, pain relief and improving sports performance for all clients.
As a C.H.E.K Certified Master Practitioner, Phil has been trained to work holistically in order to assist clients in all aspects of their health and wellbeing. C.H.E.K Practitioners understand that the human body is a system of systems and that one system has the ability to affect any other system. An assessment of these systems is required before specific recommendations can be made. The holistic approach involves assessing each client on a physical, mental, emotional and sometimes the spiritual level. This is required to fully understand the physiological load (stress) clients are under, before providing the relevant exercise and wellness solutions.
Other Training Supplementing a holistic approach.
The CHEK 8 year programme is supplemented by other qualifications such as Premier International Advanced Personal Training, NASM Advanced Personal Trainer, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, Holistic Lifestyle Coaching, Sports Massage Therapy, Postural Correction, Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Golf Conditioning Specialist, Tennis Conditioning Specialist, Stress Relief and DNA profiling to provide a truly holistic solution to all clients health and fitness needs.
In summary, and of note is the fact that unparalleled client services are provided for all clients irrespective of their location.
A holistic approach to diet
A point to remember here is the fact that eating the wrong diet for each of us is one of our biggest stresses. As a member of the Register of Nutritional Therapists and as an Advanced Metabolic Typing Advisor we are also able to assist clients with identifying which diet is correct for their metabolic type. In addition, detoxication processes may also be recommended. Food intolerance testing is also key as it is often implicated in many chronic health or weight loss issues.
Additional Non CHEK training
Not only the CHEK skills but Heart Rate Variability Testing and Mitochondrial Support are equally important skills. These, of course, allow for the monitoring and support of the inner workings of the body. Not to mention that, ultimately, these skills will assist clients to improve their energy levels and stay healthy longer.
